Life, Death, and Everything in Between

On October 30 I lost a dear friend of mine. At 18 years old he has passed on and walked into the outstretched arms of God. This week has been one of the hardest I have ever had to make it through. The wake and the funeral were very difficult and I honestly don't think I've ever cried so much.

Robert was a great guy. I met him 4 years ago, when his older brother and my boyfriend became roommates their freshman year. 4 years later John and Chris are still roommates and Robert a fixture at their house. It is heartbreaking to say good-bye to someone who was such a lovely, genuine person. Robert would go above and beyond to bring a smile to your face. I think that's what I'll miss both about him... his desire to make others happy and his huge smile.

Life is too short and we never know when it will end. I'm now striving to live each day to its fullest. Not saving my time to craft as a reward, but fitting it into my day. Giving myself time for work and play each day. Creating and crafting to share my gifts with the world while I'm still here. I've even gotten brave enough to dust off the sewing machine my mom got for me (yay 1971 Singer!) and attempted to thread the darn thing. This is proving to be nearly impossible though...

Here's to you Robert Spencer. Daredevil, funny man, and great friend. Each day we are all growing closer to the time we'll be joining you in heaven. Keep the mood light up there friend, I'm sure we're all going to need a good laugh when we finally arrive.
