An Engagement Story - Happy Valentines Day!

I know this is much to much overdue - although good things to come to those who wait!
Also - please enjoy a photo time line and a little happy background music...

Just push play! :)

My, do we clean up nice...Me & My Boy...
2005 & 2006

Once upon a time...
On the 6th Anniversary of Hunky's and my very first date we went about celebrating the day as we traditionally do. You see, we relive our first date each year. The day starts out with family - we spend most of it at Hunky's Mom's family Holiday Party. We eat waaaayyy too much, play card games and catch up with family that we only see a few times a year.

2007 & 2008

On our very first date I did not go to the family gathering, (thank goodness, there are so many of them I might have had a panic attack!) instead hunky picked me up in the family minivan and we went to see Christmas with the Kranks in a neighboring town. After that we went to Krispy Kreme and ate free doughnuts, (love it when that hot and ready light is on!) as we were trying to leave we somehow set off the alarm of the van, which then locked us inside. This is where I kind of started to freak out, you see I had only met him a few months earlier and now I was literally locked inside of a minivan with him! After we figured out how to stop the alarm (putting the key in the ignition,) he took me home. It was such a lovely and eventful first date.

Trying out for the Amazing Race!
2009

Okay, anyway, back to the present! As the years progressed the group that joined us on our First Date Celebration grew! This year there was the largest attendance yet! There were 8 of us who went to see Tangled in 3-D, (usually we see a cheesy holiday movie, but sadly this year there were none.) After the movie we parted ways with family who went back to stay at Grandma's. Hunky and I drove past Krispy Kreme as it is now closed.

2010

I was in a huge hurry to get home as it was late and I had to work early the next morning. Hunky insisted he needed to stop at his apartment before he took me home - mind you it would have been more efficient if he were to drop me off and then go back , which I let him know about 1 million times! After much debate I agreed to stop by his place and he then ran upstairs. I called my Stunning Momma to tell her about the day and recommend the movie to her, the phone call lasted quite a while, just as I mentioned worrying about Hunky I received a call from him. I said a quick good-bye to Stunning Momma and answered the phone...

What was actually said by Hunky:
"Anna, Zeus died."

What I heard:
"Anna, Louis died."

Now, let's talk about the difference between Zeus and Louis.
Zeus = Hunky's Fish
Louis = Hunky's Best Friend Since Birth

Ahhh!!! I immediately start to go into panic mode and hang up the phone. I run up the stairs to Hunky's apartment as fast as my legs will allow me. My stomach is full of knots and the tears are beginning to flow. I beat on the door to be let in.

The door opens,

There are candles,

There is a bottle of wine (one Hunky brought back from a trip to Italy last year),

There is Hunky on one knee...

There is absolute shock on my part.
Who the heck proposes when their best friend just died?

After the confusion was quickly cleared Hunky tried again and I said "Yes!"
Of course after that all I said for a good two hours was "Oh my Gosh! Oh my Gosh Oh my Gosh!" What a range of emotions to go through in such a short time!
We are now planning a wedding for August 2011!

Here's hoping your love story has a dash of humor every now and then!
Happy Valentine's Day!

  2. Omigosh Anna, I finally got a chance to read your proposal story. I am sitting here in my quiet office, trying my hardest to muffle my hysteric laughter, and yes I have tears streaming down my face. I am so very happy for you and wish you both the absolute best. Congrats Hun.
