Spring is for Flowers!

Last Sunday (5/15), I planted some wildflower seeds in cute summer tin containers to grown in my kitchen window!

I wasn't sure how much of a green thumb I would have - so - I bought all of the gear (tins and seeds) at Target. The dirt came from the bag of potting soil my roommate left on the patio.

My fearless helper and companion, Bart - he has such a green thumb, (fin?)

This is my $2 seed pack - I am very excited to see what kinds of flowers will actually grow!

The seeds looked quite similar to Bart's fish food...?

Good old Bart was willing to let me borrow some of his gravel for drainage purposes... Don't worry - it was old and he was done with it!

Then I filled the tins with dirt - aren't they exciting looking?

Fast forward to this morning - There are sprouts! Maybe I am good at this gardening thing!

If this attempt is successful I plan on trying to grow more! Oh course the next time around I'll have to use cooler planting materials...

Like this mosaic window planter from totallylegalpot (cute name!)

This puppy flower pot stand is super cute - KnobCreekMetalArts

I just love the colors in this planter from brookhousepottery

Happy Weekend to you all! Take a moment to plant something or at least smell the flowers!

  1. Using tins is a good idea, but I love planters as well.

  2. Isn't it exciting to see something grow that you planted? We recently cleaned up our patio and planted/replanted some pots. We have to choose mostly dessert plants though so that they can survive our not-so-green thumbs. haha
