To-Do Thursday - Vintage Frame Cork Board!
Hello All! For today's To-Do Thursday I have a fabulous project for you that's all about up-cycling!
For today's project you will need:
- 1 Old Frame
- 1 piece of cork board the size of frame
- a staple gun
- hammer
- pliers
- Optional - spray paint
- wire for hanging
The first thing you will need to do is remove the art work and the guts of the frame.
This may also include chipping off tape and paper off the back.
This is a frame that I pulled from my hometown's "Big Trash Day," (A time where you can set things out on the curb that wouldn't normally be dump worthy and other people have the chance to take things before they are hauled away...) it is a very large frame 24" x 36" - although I think this project would be handy on most any scale.
If you have a detailed frame I recommend spray paint as it goes on quick and easy, plus, it dries very fast!
Now comes the more difficult part. Fit your piece of cork board into the frame - then staple it in place. I stapled in each of the corners and 2-3 times on each side. This is also the point where you can install a wire for hanging.
When you are satisfied with how your cork board is installed within the frame, (it took me about 4 times!) then it's time to find a space to hang the frame.

Oprah's Grand Idea
This morning as I was on my way back home from Fashion Sketching class I was nearly broad sided by a man who was crossing 4 lanes of traffic without looking. As I was laying on my horn and yelling at him, (because he could probably hear me,) I was questioning whether he was drunk, oblivious, or stupid.
Turns out - as I pulled up next to him, I looked over and noticed he was having an extremely involved conversation on his cell phone. If I was the type of person who flicked people off I would have taken this oppritunity to do just that - although he probably wouldn't have notice - AND - I am not that type of person, so I just glared at him and drove on. As we rounded the corner he proceeded to unknowingly cut off several more people, using no turn signal and merging freely.
What does our silly man driver have to do with Oprah. Well, let me introduce you to Oprah's No Phone Zone. Visit this portion of her web page to learn more. Take a moment to sign the pledge if you feel inclined to do so.
Personally, I believe that making the car a no phone zone for the driver is a fantastic idea. I always get mad when John tries to text while driving, there's no way you can give you attention fully to both activities. With my little experience today, I realize that driving and talking on the phone can be equally as dangerous/scary. Unless it's life or death, chances are the person you're trying to reach can wait...
Here are some great Etsy accessories that will make you want to keep your phone in it's case, especially when you're driving!
Hopefully you've found something for the cell phone junkie in your life! I really wish I could get John to agree to one of those hippos ... :D

Summer Blahs!
So, I am pretty sure that starting my Etsy business in the summer was a BAD idea!
But it's ok because I only seem to sell when I am on vacation... and I vacation a whole lot in the summer!
I am really going to make an effort to blog more... I hope.
Yesterday I made 20 new pairs of bobby pins for my site... I'll post photos... I think they are pretty sweet! Great for the girly girl in all of us!
Also, I got a myspace to help with networking... Turns out my demographic is the crowd that loves themselves some myspace.... Personally I think that site is for creepers... Maybe I've just been watching too much Date Line... ha ha!
Anyways, wishing a great day to you all as I sit here in 90* heat... Better than snow I guess!
