Hunger Games Fashion

Even though my book club is reading the book this month - I just couldn't help myself! Hunky and I caught a matinee viewing of the Hunger Games yesterday. The fashion in the Capitol was just to die for! Seriously - those colors and those wild eyelashes, make up and hair. Sign me up to stay there! Even though the character Effie Trinket made me super uneasy I loved her outrageous looks.

Okay - I'll admit it - I could have done with a little less murder and a little more perusing the Captiol and admiring the fashion...

I'm not one for violent movies but I must tell you I spanned every emotion possible during this film. No joke - I even had to get up at one point and get a snack --- hunger, sadness, joy, fear, anger, anticipation what a morning! It truly is a film worth viewing.

The Adjustment Bureau - A Movie Review

I simply love Emily Blunt and Hunky loves Matt Damon, therefore The Adjustment Bureau seemed like our kind of movie! We finally remembered to go see a movie on cheap movie night, tickets on Tuesday are only $5. This means we put some of that saved ticket money towards a huge tub of popcorn and a red freezy drink. (Yum!)

The movie is all about destiny - is it something that we ourselves control or are there other forces at work? Damon plays David Norris a man who gets a forbidden glimpse at the forces behind the scenes - we follow him through life after this revelation and see how his new knowledge effects his choices and actions. The kicker is when Norris falls in love with a woman, Elise (Emily Blunt,) who is not apart of his destiny... There will be times during this movie that you are on the edge of your seat!

I really enjoyed the movie, there were so many twists and turns. I found myself gasping quite a bit and getting really involved in the story. This is one of those movies that you'll want to discuss after it's over - so bring a friend who will let you talk over all the little details. I would really like to watch the film again - as I feel like there were things that I missed out on when I was trying to piece together the puzzle. Hunky stated that it was better than he expected it to be... ha ha ha!

If you haven't already seen it - here's the trailer:

Easy A: A Movie Review

I haven't giggled during a movie this hard since Mean Girls...

Emma Stone is truly brilliant as Olive, an awkward high school student, who plays her school's rumor mill like a fiddle. The story parallels The Scarlet Letter, which is ironically being studied in Olive's English class. Olive has so many fabulous lines:
"Whatever happened to chivalry? Does it only exist in 80's movies? I want John Cusack holding a boombox outside my window. I wanna ride off on a lawnmower with Patrick Dempsey. I want Jake from Sixteen Candles waiting outside the church for me. I want Judd Nelson thrusting his fist into the air because he knows he got me. Just once I want my life to be like an 80's movie, preferably one with a really awesome musical number for no apparent reason. But no, no, John Hughes did not direct my life. "

"Due to his "condition," Micah was sent on an extended visit to his grandparents' in Palatka, Florida. And if there's one thing worse than chlamydia, it's Florida. "

Easy A is a great story about the impact of a little white lie and how even with the best of intentions one can turn things sour. Uses sarcasm and crude humor to shine light upon topics like honesty, teen relationships, friendships and family dynamics.

As luck would have it - my most favorite scene is on YouTube!! Please enjoy the Pocket Full of Sunshine greeting card montage...

Love!

p.s. According to IMDB "Rated PG-13 for mature thematic elements involving teen sexuality, language and some drug material."

Life As We Know It - A Movie Review

I laughed.
Then I cried.
Then I laughed some more.

LIFE AS WE KNOW IT

Katherine Heigl (Holly) & John Duhamel (Messer) have brilliant onscreen chemistry - or lack there of. The two are set up on a blind date by their married best friends. It goes utterly and completely wrong, in fact they don't even leave the drive way...

Their married best friends later have a daughter Sofie - which brings Holly & Messer together again and again. A tragedy occurs and forces the two together taking care of baby Sofie.

Holly has a fabulous wardrobe and is a pastry chef with a great little shop. A great strong and fashionable female character .

A story of growth, love, sorrow, happiness and how life isn't always in our control.

Here's the trailer for you to get a little taste...

Such a good Holiday Vacation/Snow Day flick.

This plaque from mbartstudios sums it up nicely...

Have you seen the movie? What did you think?

Bolt: A Movie Review

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to see the movie Bolt. I was pleasantly surprised by how great this movie actually is!

This is a great family movie, with something for everyone to enjoy. Animals and slap-stick humor for the kids. Quick witted jokes and puns for the adults. Plus, it's truly a heart warming story for all to enjoy.

It's the journey of three unlikely friends uniting to reach a goal:
Bolt - A German Shepard
Mittens - An Alley Cat
Rhino - A Hamster in a Ball

I was going to provide a summary from IMDB - but - I thought they gave too much away...

I would recommend this as a great pick for the kids, family, or even a light hearted date night.

Here are some Etsy items that remind me of the film -
As inspired by memorable quotes:

Homing Pigeon Mobile from gentlearts
Pigeon 1
: [after seeing Bolt and Penny go out to play] Does that dog look familiar?
Pigeon 2: Nope. Never seen him before in my life.

Hello, I love you print from LoveSugar
Rhino: Ring, ring! Who's there? Destiny? I've been expecting your call.

Mini Flatbed Toy Trucks from timespasttoys
Rhino: [singing] There's no truck that I know that can keep in Bolt and Rhino!

Pepi Fridge Magnet from NoCrybabyDoGs
Bolt: But what do dogs do?
Mittens: Slobber, sleep, chase tails, chew shoes... You don't exactly need a master's degree.
