Hello Baby.

I believe this time of year should officially be referred to as Baby Season!  The extreme cuteness of the fabric of the world inspired me to make this outfit for our nephew Joseph, who will be born next week!

A handful of friends and family are also expecting - and making little Joseph's outfit was so much fun to make - so - I opened another Etsy Shop!  hello baby is where you can find some fabulously fashionable, functional, and comfortable baby clothing.

The Jacket Bug

I'm pretty sure that there's got to be a name for what I've been afflicted with lately. Jacket-pox or Jacket-fever.

Why do I love jackets so much? I just love throwing them on over everything, dresses, skirts, jeans and tees. They are just so versatile!

What are you loving for fall?

*White House Black Market jacket in photo is significantly more cute in person*

Leggings As Pants - A Guest Blog Post

One of the people that I cherish the most from my time at Michigan State University is a fabulous girl that I was lucky enough to have several classes with, Kristin, of the blog I hate everyone.

This girl is absolutely fierce in her opinions and let's face it - most of the time she's saying what we only wish we had the guts to say! Take a moment to stop by her blog and have a giggle or two - you'll appreciate it especially if you've ever worked retail... So without further delay here is the fiercely fabulous Kristin to tell us a thing or two about leggings as pants... (And yes - I am a huge violator of this especially in the winter/fall - see below.)

Kristin actually took this photo of me last year --- I was saying something along the lines of "Look at my pants Kristin, pants! Pants! Pants!"

Wearing leggings as pants is unacceptable. Here are my top five reasons why:

5.) Nobody has the body for it. Look at this girl. She is skinny, but the leggings show every bit of cellulite. Gross!

4.) No matter how thin you are or how cute your butt is, leggings as pants=overexposure. So even if you are part of the probably less than one percent of people who CAN pull it off, you still shouldn’t. Look at Olivia Wilde here! I can see all your naughty bits!

3.) They’re just not cute! Nothing says, “I don’t care what I look like” better than leggings as pants. And if you’re like, “But Kristin, I really don’t care what I look like,” then shame on you!

2.) I especially can’t handle seeing leggings as pants in the winter. Leggings simply are not warm enough to protect you against the cold/snow!

1.) And the final reason not to wear leggings as pants: Do you really want to look like a cookie cutter sorority girl?

Polka Dots & Pleates

Every once in a while I like to take a spin around Mod Cloth. If you've never experienced Mod Cloth, it's a must! Honestly I've never made it past the dresses because it usually takes me about 2 hours to look through them all --- they have a constant turn over and great descriptions and reviews of the items. I think it might be okay to go out on a limb and say that the whole site is pretty great.

Hunky and I have a wedding coming up, other than our own, and I am on the hunt for a new dress... Here are some of the contenders, it's clear that I'm into polka dots a vermilion this season!

Now you must confess - when you went and checked out the site how long did you stay?

Matchy Matchy

Dear Best Friend,

I apologize for showing up dressed like your twin at your graduation open house...

... but you have to admit - as much as we say our tastes are 100% different...

We've got to have some kind of similar taste - Remember your birthday in the fall..?

When the same exact thing happened?

We rocked it then - but I just want to say - we already have your dress for the wedding picked out and if you show up wearing an alabaster gown - I might make you walk down the aisle too!

The winner of the snapcrafty 50 piece cab giveaway was entry #7 - Sarah from Yes, Teacher!
Can't wait to see what you create with your winnings!

Happy Monday All!

Here are some of my favorite Infinity scarves on the market!

I love the stripes on this little number from Nordstrom's BP line

This scarf from Textilemonster is such a gorgeous shade of cobalt

Green Gown!

IT'S FINISHED!!!!!

I am now a member of the real world again - at least for a few days!
I don't know if you all remember, but I've been working on a gown made from green materials.

Upholstery fabric samples were my material of choice - For those of you who don't remember - here's my original sketch:

... and the rendered version...

And here's the real deal!!!

I had to shorten the skirt and make it bubble style due to the weight - other than that I am very happy with how it turned out! I'm really hoping that I'll get some professional images taken as well. (These are just from my phone.) Enjoy!

The front - hoping the neck line will sit better on a human model

The back - Isn't this upholstery just wild?? I couldn't help but use the deer family... :)

A side - I am loving how the skirt turned out.

The other side --- So happy to have this completed before the deadline!

What is your most recently completed project?
